2018 was a very big year for us, with the move into our new premises in May. We are delighted to be in a purpose-built facility with so much more space, and are enjoying our close relationship with the Cashmere Pharmacy team adjoining us, and the Port Hills Physio and Pilates team one door down.
2019 will see some staff changes, which we would like to share with you. Trish, one of our reception and admin team, is leaving us in mid-February to pursue new career opportunities in Christchurch. We will miss her organisational skills and calm presence at reception, and wish her well for her future endeavours.
Dr Andrew Dickie, who joined us in July 2018, has decided the call of semi-retirement is too strong to ignore, and will be reducing and changing his role with us from March. Andrew has a strong interest in Travel Health, and will be providing a Travel Health service for all the Cashmere Health patients, which will be a one-stop shop for travel advice and immunisations. He will continue with a reduced amount of general practice work on Wednesday afternoons from mid-April 2019, following a month of leave in March.
We’re delighted to announce the arrival of Dr Kate Downer, who has been a Christchurch GP for 7 years. From March 2019, Kate will be taking over the care of those patients previously enrolled with Dr Dickie. We refer you to her profile on our website for further information on Kate’s training, interest areas within General Practice, and life outside work. We look forward to the new skills she will bring to our team, and are confident she will make the transition smooth for those of you already in our practice that will be transferring to her care.
Please be advised that the on-line booking system allows you to book an appointment only with your enrolled GP, to ensure each GP has enough appointments each day to see their own patients. However, as always, if you have an urgent health need on a day when your enrolled GP is not working, please phone the practice, and we will be able to book you in with another doctor at the practice.
This newsletter has mostly talked about changes ahead, and we appreciate that change can be hard to adjust to. Look out for the updated photos on our website soon – we are all finding our changed (older!) images very hard to adjust to! But in all seriousness, we want to assure you that everyone at Cashmere Health is committed to providing the same excellent service that we have delivered since the day our doors opened. We take very seriously the trust you place in us to care for your health needs at every phase of life, and look forward to continuing our partnership with you as we endeavour to provide holistic, patient-centred, and personalised care.
With best wishes for 2019 from The Cashmere Health Team
